Belleville Minor Football League

The Belleville Minor Football League had its inaugural season in 1995. For three years prior to the formation of the league, teams from Belleville played in the Kingston Minor Football League. For many years, teams from Trenton, Belleville, and Bancroft played in the spring league. This year, the league is expanding to eight teams, with the addition of the Trent Hills Titans and the Centre Hastings Centurions. Students in Grades 6, 7, and 8 are eligible to play in the league.

The Season

Registration takes place in late March. Practices take place in April and early May. The regular season runs from mid-May to the end of June, usually on Wednesday evenings, Friday evenings, and Saturday mornings. Playoff games wrap up the season with Championships in three divisions:

“C”—The “Red” Townsend Memorial Trophy

“B”—The Mike Schad Bowl

“C”—The Pat Carty Memorial Trophy

“D”—The Vern “Jumbo” Goyer Memorial Trophy

These trophies recognize the efforts of the individuals who contributed so much to football in the Quinte area.
