The Belleville Minor Football League wrapped up its 2011 season on Saturday with four championship games on the artificial turf field at Mary Ann Sills Park. In the “D” final, the Bayshore Credit Union Chargers defeated the Trent Hills Titans 25-12. Curtis Courneya led the Chargers with two touchdowns. Jake Waplak and Austin Kompah-Drew added the other majors. Braden Thompson and Damon Scott scored for the Titans. Representatives from the Ontario Football Alliance, Tina Turner and Chalene MacLeod, were on hand to present “Offensive” and “Defensive” awards for each game. Kompah-Drew was the offensive player of the game, and Hunter Paul won the defensive award for the Titans. Ronehtawaks Lefort-Cummings had two touchdowns to lead Hotch’s Auto Parts to a 25-19 victory over the McConnell Centre Hastings Centurions. Tim Bonsall and Brad Chapman added the other TDs. John Fraser, Kyle Cook, and Dylan Elson had the touchdowns for the Centurions, with Chris Post adding the extra point. Gabe Cook was the Offensive MVP in the game, and Colin Haggarty was the Defensive star. Scott’s Haulage/Diamond Electric Rough Riders blanked the Bancroft Jan Lumber T Hawks in the “B” Final. Connor McNeil and Jacob Schinke did all the scoring for the Riders. Tyler Power made a key interception near the end of the game to snuff out an offensive drive by the T Hawks. Power was the MVP for the Riders, while Heidi L’Esperance won the award for the T Hawks. The Trenton Kiwanis Tiger Cubs bested the previously undefeated Belleville Club Bears in the “A” final 20-12. The Cubs were led by Ai Wright with three majors. Tyson Rigby added the other two points. Dave Taylor had both scores for the Bears. Ben Doran won the Defensive award for the Bears, and Riley Carey was the Offensive MVP for the Cubbies. Players are reminded to return all equipment to their coaches. James
