Selection
Committee Process
The
Selection Committee process to determine each year's inductees
to The Belleville Sports Hall of Fame begins with members of the
ppublic filing nomination forms for possible inductions to the
Hall..
Nomination forms are available at the City's Recreation Department
and must be filed by April 30th to be considered in that year's
process. Nominations are kept on file for indefinitely and reviewed
each year during the Selection Committee process.
The Selection Committee is composed of three members of the Hall’s
executive and four at-large members. The committee carefully considers
each nomination in May and releases its inductees for that year
in June.
Announcements wilt take peace in June of each year with the induction
ceremony scheduled for September.
A voting procedure is in place for the committee whereby each
member votes, in order, for personal choice for induction. To
be inducted, a nominee must achieve a 60 per cent vote total and
up to five inductions will be eligible each year.
As members of the Selection Committee, we often hear the phrase
''so and so shouts he in the Hall of Fame”, but the Hall
of Fame Selection Committee can only act on those nominations
received each year.
We urge you, if you believe someone deserves recognition, to obtain
a Nomination form and fill it out as thoroughly as possible to
give the selection Committee every opportunity to review nominations
each May.
